…..I live in Bainbridge in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales and together with my wife Jane and our dog Dotty we run Low Mill Guesthouse from our converted watermill on the banks of the river Bain lowmillguesthouse.co.uk

ln July 2020 i received a distinction from the Institute of Photography for the Advanced Professional Diploma in Photography

My love of photography only started to develop when we moved up to the Dales from London in 2010. At first I just used my iPhone ,then three years ago in 2017 I treated myself to an entry level Nikon D3400 to see how I got on with a “proper camera”.

I discovered a real passion for photography and a year later upgraded to a Nikon D7500, which is what I use now. I have various lenses such as a Sigma 10-20 wide angle (my fave lens!) a Nikon 16-80 zoom (my most used and best lens ) a Nikon 55-300 telephoto lens and a Sigma 100-400 . I have a great little Sigma macro lens and a Nikon 50mm prime lens.

I use Kase Wolverine filters for my long exposures

For lighting up those dark bits i use a Falcon Eyes F7 LED light

If I’m heading up a hill or out on a mission then I carry all my kit in a Lowepro flipside rucksack together with a Novo Explora carbon fibre tripod.

If you ever find a random bit of photography kit up on a moor please get in touch as there is a fair chance it’s mine!!

I also own a beautiful 1950s Leica 35mm camera which I bought at auction a couple of years ago; I am hoping to use this a bit more and to also develop my own film from it once my darkroom is ready

My dog Dotty unfortunately doesn’t come with me because she hates photography, as it generally means stopping every once in a while and that’s not really her thing!
